About IP Intelligence
This free IP lookup tool tells you what a public IP address reveals — the approximate location, the internet provider, the network operator and the connection type. Check your own with one click, or look up any address you have been given.
The everyday reasons: confirming which IP your office firewall needs to allow, checking where a suspicious login came from, or simply finding out what a website can see about your connection.
How to look up an IP address
- Click Use my IP to check your own connection, or type any public IP address.
- Click Check IP address.
- Read the report, and use Copy result to paste it into a ticket or an email.
What an IP can and cannot tell you
It can tell you:
- The country, and usually the region or city.
- The internet service provider or hosting company.
- The network operator and autonomous system it belongs to.
- Whether it looks like a home connection, a mobile network or a data centre.
It cannot tell you:
- A street address or a person’s name. IP geolocation is approximate — usually accurate to the city, often only to the region.
- Who was using the device. Home connections are shared, and mobile IPs move between users constantly.
Treat IP location as a hint, never as proof. Mobile IPs in particular often report the location of the carrier’s gateway, which can be hundreds of kilometres from the user.
Why your IP changes
Most home connections use a dynamic IP that changes when the router restarts or when the provider reassigns it. That is why the address you noted yesterday may not be yours today. A static IP, which stays fixed, is normally a paid business option. Mobile data changes even more often as you move between towers.
IP Intelligence FAQs
Is this IP lookup free?
Yes. No signup, and no limit on lookups.
How accurate is the location?
Country level is very reliable. City level is usually right but can be wrong, especially on mobile networks and business connections.
Can someone find my home address from my IP?
No. An IP maps to your provider’s network, not to your door. Only your provider can link an address to an account, and that requires legal process.
Why does my IP keep changing?
Most home and mobile connections use dynamic addresses that are reassigned periodically. A fixed address requires a static IP from your provider.
What is an ASN?
An Autonomous System Number identifies the network that owns a block of IPs — typically an ISP, a hosting company or a large organisation.
Can I look up someone else’s IP?
You can look up any public IP address you already have. The tool reports network and location data about that address, not about a person.
